ABOUT Catherine Baker-Pitts |
Catherine Baker, the author of Fed Up, Building ESTEEM, and The Perfection Trap, is a dynamic and passionate advocate for eating disorder awareness. A widely read author who has worked in the eating disorder field for over a decade, she is the founder of the activist group, ESTEEM, which is now on college campuses across the country.
A board member of the American Anorexia/Bulimia Association, she also serves as Book Review Editor of Eating Disorders. Her presentations on campuses and for organizations throughout the country generate a dialogue that is long-lasting and inspiring. Baker's grasp of the social construction of self-esteem and the prevention of eating problems offers audiences not only a deeper understanding of eating disorders, but also tools for empowerment, and for personal as well as social change.
Baker is a popular guest on radio and television, and her work has been highlighted in national news outlet magazines. Currently on a national speaking tour, she continues post-graduate training at The Women's Therapy Institute in Manhattan. Baker maintains a private practice in New York City specializing in eating disorders.
